Landscapes
Nighttime
How can you paint at night? What a ridiculous idea…..with the miner’s light strapped to my head or clipped to my easel. The trick is to start before the sun goes down, so you don’t have to move once it’s gone….But, of course, that doesn’t always happen. I remember one time, painting over by The Pier in St. Petersburg with a few friends, and we’d just set up and were seeing some great after-dark lights in the park, and it started to rain….. This is Disastrous when you are using pastels!!! Scrabbling to cover our work and hoping it wouldn’t turn into a Florida downpour….was a comedy of errors. The only thing that could have made it worse, would have been if a wind came along and knocked over the entire easel and pochade box….flinging pastels in every direction. Oh, well, I love it anyway. Look at those stars!!!
